Sir Earle Page served briefly as Prime Minister in 1939, and was the third longest-serving M.P in Australian history, spending just shy of 42 years in the parliament.
The Sir Earle Page Memorial Trust, through its charitable activities, awards an annual scholarship to a deserving young student from regional NSW, giving them the opportunity to undertake a degree at the University of Sydney. Whilst studying at the University the student resides at St John's College on campus, and is able to take part in College life. Three such scholarships have already been awarded.
The Trust also presents the annual Sir Earle Page Memorial lecture. In 2022 the lecture will take place on Monday, June 6 at 6pm.
The Sir Earle Page Memorial Trust Lecture allows funds to be raised to present to a deserving young student from regional NSW .The guest lecturer will be General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK AC (Mil) CVO MC (retd).
St John's is proud to support rural and regional students and is deeply grateful for the support provided by the Earle Page Trust. The College has a long tradition of supporting rural students, who often return to their regional areas after completing their studies, and are able to give back to the community whether it be in business, agriculture or another profession.
