Semester 1 Careers Networking Evening a Success

Our latest Careers Networking Evening saw our current students network with successful St John's alumni from a range of professional fields.

On Tuesday 16 March, the College was pleased to host our amazing alumni and current students in the Nagle Library for the 2021 Semester 1 Careers Networking Evening.

Our biannual Careers Networking Evenings provide an invaluable opportunity for our current students to tap into the broader St John's Alumni network and benefit from the expertise of those who have come before them.

At the most recent event, over 40 alumni from professional fields as diverse as Law, Finance, Academia, Marketing, Engineering, Architecture, Design or Medicine (among others) were in attendance. Students were able to ask questions about anything and everything university, internships, job prospects and career progression. The conversation was lively, and a real collegial spirit was present as alumni offered advice to the up-and-coming John’s men and women. The night was opened through a great speech by our Director of Student Life, Veronica McLoughlin, and closed by our Associate Dean of Academics, Will Chan. The lucky door prize was won by Kathleen Carmody (St John’s Alumna 2015-2017). Following the formal proceedings, guests and students were invited to the Tower Vestibule for refreshments and desserts, where the conversation continued.

Feedback from students about the event was overwhelmingly positive, with many students remarking that they were blown away by both the number of alumni that were in attendance and the quality of the advice they received.

We couldn't hold these events without our alumni, who generously volunteer their time and we are so appreciative of their continuing support for the St John's College community.

The next Careers Networking Evening will be held in Semester 2, and we hope it is equally as successful!
